Oscar W. Blanton age 83, of Jenkinsburg passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Blanton was born in Heflin, Alabama on March 24, 1939. His Mother, Inda Evans Blanton Renfroe born in Heflin, AL, Step-Father, Herman Renfroe born in Thomaston, GA; his Grandma and Grandpa, Cora and John Blanton born in Heflin, AL; Grandma and Grandpa, Cordelia and Parson Evans born in Heflin, AL- all preceded him in death. Also preceding him are brothers- Stanley Blanton of Conyers; Jimmy Blanton, Jackson, AL; His dad, Oscar W. Blanton, Sr. of Oxford, AL; stepbrothers-Jerry Renfroe, Alan Renfroe, Ronnie Renfroe all of Cummings, GA; Granddaughter, Christina Michell Galbreath of Jackson, GA. Oscar graduated from R. E. Lee High School in Thomaston, GA. He joined the United States Army and served at Fort Jackson, SC. He worked at the A.C.C.O in Tucker for 28 years. After his retirement, he worked at Cobb Wire, Rope and Sling for 11 years. He married Dale Lynch June 26, 1960. They were married 62 years. Oscar became a deacon in 1973 at The Rock Baptist Church in Rex, GA. He began the Beulah Land Ministries about 1977. GOD opened up many doors over the years. He helped in the sound booth recording the services at the Rock Baptist Church in Rex, GA, Ash Street Baptist Church in Forest Park, GA, and Silver Hills Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA. Reverend Durwood Davis at The Rock Baptist Church mentored him. Later, he did many Christmas and Easter pageants to help other churches. He led singings at Reynolds Park and Estes Park; Christmas plays at Kiwanis Field in Forest Park, GA. At Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, he helped set up the 24 hour prayer line, also assisted with the lighting and cameras at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He held gospel singings on the local TV station (SCTV) channel 36, for 2-3 years. At his home while living in Eatonton, he had a 2-story garage apartment where he let small groups of Christians use for meetings. He ran a food pantry ministry out of it, and continued it after moving to Jenkinsburg in his home at no charge. Churches that he had been associated with over the years are: The Rock Baptist Church, Rex, GA; Ash Street Baptist Church, Forest Park, GA; Jonesboro First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, GA; Salem Baptist Church, McDonough, GA; Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Toccoa, GA: Rev. Donnie Stevens church in Dothan, AL; Silver Hills Baptist Church, Lilburn, GA; and Crossroads Baptist Church in Eatonton, GA. Survivors include his Wife of 62 years, Dale Lynch Blanton; Children: Chad Emmett Blanton, Jenkinsburg, GA; Christy Leigh Blanton Brown and husband, Steve A. Brown of Jackson, GA; Cary Michael Blanton and wife, Jennifer Blanton; Grandchildren: Christian Blanton, Chandler Blanton, Rebekah Brown; Siblings -Dennis Renfroe of Grey, NC; Keith Renfroe of Jacksonville, FL; Danny Renfroe of Oxford, AL; Shari Blanton of Southside, AL, Step-Mother, Rachel Blanton of Oxford, AL; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Saturday December 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Rock Baptist Church, Rex, GA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Reverend Scott Stephens will officiate. Mr. Blanton will lie-in-state one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
