of Charleston, formerly of Procious, West Virginia, and St. Albans, West Virginia, passed away September 6, 2024 while in Hospice Care at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Ordy was born on September 13, 1939 in Indore, West Virginia, to the late Samuel Sherman and Sarah Agnes Holcomb. He was the youngest of eleven children and was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
He was a graduate of Clay County High School Class of 1959. Ordy worked in Illinois as a crane operator in a steel mill and later as a carpenter. After returning to West Virginia, he was employed as a Union carpenter with Local 1207. He was a Christian, last attending Burke Community Church in Procious and was a long-time volunteer for the Clay County Golden Delicious Festival and loved spending time with his family.
Ordy married Della Wolfe on March 10, 1960 and together they raised three sons in Mokena, Illinois and St. Albans; Ordy Holcomb Jr. (Laticha) of Cameron, West Virginia, Tod Holcomb (Diane) of Charleston and Roger Holcomb (Amber) of Trenton, Ohio. Also surviving are his grandson, Adam Holcomb (Brittany) of Fairfield, Ohio; granddaughter, December Richards of Wheeling, West Virginia; special nephew, Jerry Holcomb (Cheryl); great niece, Amanda Holcomb Holley (Ronnie); great-great niece and nephew, Abigail Holley and Samuel Holley; and numerous family members and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Chapel with Pastor Clarence Deel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Boulevard West, Charleston, West Virginia 25387.
