Oralia Hinestrosa Fernandez, born July 13, 1928, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022. Oralia married Baudelio Fernandez on Jan. 6, 1952. They had two children, the late Baudelio Fred Fernandez Jr. of San Angelo, Texas, and Hilda Fernandez Maughan of Ferron, Utah. Oralia was born in Taylor, Texas to sharecropper parents Macario and Guadalupe Hinestrosa. She began picking cotton with her mother soon after learning to walk. She maintained a strong work ethic throughout her life and remained active long after her retirement from Levi Strauss & Co. where she sewed and assembled jeans. She was an avid believer in "doing it yourself" and completed countless home improvement projects on her own well into her senior years. Oralia was preceded in death by her son, Fred and husband Baudilio; her parents, Macario and Guadalupe Hinestrosa; her siblings; and her grandson, Jacob F. Maughan. She will be missed by her daughter Hilda; daughter-in-law Amparo; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. A viewing service will be held Friday, Feb. 11, from 4-6 p.m. in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home with Rev. Cavalcante officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
