Opal Mullis passed away peacefully at IU Hospice House on September 30, 2021. Opal Taylor was born September 5, 1926 in Martin County, IN.
Opal graduated from Trinity Springs High School at the age of 16. She came to Bloomington to work at RCA. She met and married the late Edward Mullis. They had two children, Melody Oswalt of Kentucky and Mark Mullis of Bloomington. She has one grandson, Derek Oswalt of Ottawa, Canada and a sister, Anna Bell Fields.
Opal was a member of the Ellettsville Church of Christ, teaching three generations. She was the president of the Eastside Club and Queen of the Scarlet McHatters, and was also a member of a home extension club. She volunteered at the Richland-Bean Blossom Family Store well into her 80's.
The family will have a private graveside service for Opal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to I.U. Hospice.
