Olmon P. Taylor Jr. (Pete): Pete (OP) Taylor Jr., age 81, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Villages Hospital, in The Villages, Florida. Pete was born as he always said, "at the end of the cotton patch in Thorn, Mississippi" on April 3, 1939 to Olmon P. Taylor Sr. and Flora Belle (Black) Taylor. His family moved to Belleview, FL when he was 3 years old. Pete had 2 sisters, Dorothy (Donald) Bice and Mildred Jackson who both live in Quincy, FL. His 3 children, Gale (Taylor) Jones of Oxford, FL, Michael (Angela) Taylor of Oxford, FL and Wayne (Daisy) Taylor of Gainesville, FL. Grandchildren, Carlie, Kaithlyn and Earlie. He married his best friend, his beloved wife, Nancy on May 20, 1978 making their home in Wildwood, FL. OP, as he was known in Belleview and Ocala, graduated from Ocala High School and then went to work for the now CSX railroad, where he worked mostly as a clerk in the office in Wildwood and retired after 50 plus years. Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling all over the United States in their motorhome with his beloved wife Nancy. They enjoyed many trips to Mississippi to visit Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was honored by the Wildwood Beautification Committee for his beautiful yard and flower gardens which he worked on daily before his illnesses. When he wasn't traveling, working in the yard taking care of his own equipment you could find him in his workshop creating Jesus Crosses to give to people who he thought deserved them. In the past couple of years, he made over 200 crosses that he gave away. He also enjoyed helping Nancy take care of her cats. His memberships included Wildwood United Methodist Church, Leesburg Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Ocala and Bahia Shriners in Orlando, and the Leesburg Moose Lodge. There will no Celebration of Life at this time due to Covid 19, but a possible memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2021. In lieu of flower please consider a donation to the Shriners Children Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Memories and condolence can be shared at www.bankspagetheus.com
