Olivia Reyes Basquez was born June 28th, 1941. She was born and raised in Bronte Texas. Her parents, Manuel G. Reyes and Noverta O. Reyes raised her and her five siblings, Manuel Reyes, Antonia Owens, Manuela Eubanks, Joe Reyes, and Danny Reyes. She attended school in Bronte and worked hard to help support her family during her teenage years. She made many lifelong friends throughout her life in Bronte. She married her husband, Matias G. Basquez, on December 1st, 1958.
She worked in a flower shop in Bronte for a while. Afterwards, she worked at Rawlings Ranch, then spent most of her time being a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bronte and the Red Hat Society. She lived her life in her home in Bronte, Texas with her husband for 58 years. She enjoyed gardening, raising animals, shopping, and spending time with her family. She spent a lot of time sewing blankets and clothes. Olivia also enjoyed painting in her free time.
She was survived by her husband Matias G. Basquez, her daughter Vivian Lori Eubanks (Ronald Eubanks), and her two sons Ricky D. Basquez and Matthew P. Basquez (Sheila A. Basquez). Her seven grandchildren, Joshua P. Eubanks,Jacob M. Eubanks, John M. Basquez, Sarah M. Evans, Gabriel D. Basquez, Paul V. Basquez and Michaela I. Basquez. She also had four great grandchildren, Aumri J. Evans, Asher C. Evans, Eli M. Eubanks, and Lillith H. Eubanks.
She was predeceased by her parents Manuel G. Reyes and Noverta O. Reyes, brother Joe Reyes, and her oldest son Martin L. Basquez.
The visitation will be held at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte, Texas from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2021. The family will be present at the viewing from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12th at 10:00 a.m. located at the First Baptist Church in Bronte. The officiant is Reverend George Cooper. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Bronte.
The pallbearers are her five grandsons, Joshua P. Eubanks, Jacob M. Eubanks, John M. Basquez, Gabriel D. Basquez, Paul V. Basquez, and Richard A. Beck.
The graveside service will proceed after the church service at the Fairview Cemetery in Bronte Texas.
The family of Olivia Reyes Basquez wants to say thank you to the Home Health and Hospice of Ballinger Texas, especially nurse Debby Lemons RN. for her special care. Also, a thank you to the First Baptist Church in Bronte for all the support Olivia and family has received.
