Biography of Olayemi Asabi Bajomo ( Nee Harrison) 1947-2025
Olayemi was born on 15 January 1947 into the family of Joseph Obadiah Harrison who hailed from Ijero Ekiti, Ekiti state and Dorcas Yetunde Harrison (Nee Oke) from Ibadan, Oyo State. She was born at the Massey Maternity Hospital on Lagos Island.
She started her schooling at Ago Ijaye, Ebute Metta and then proceeded to Methodist Girls High School (MGHS), Yaba. After she obtained her WASC in 1965, she proceeded to the Yaba College of Technology to study Accountancy.
Upon obtaining her National Diploma from YabaTech, she secured a job at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba as a medical records staff. She then traversed different sections and later moved to the Accounts & Audit.
Mrs Bajomo rose to the rank of Accountant before she joined the Nigerian Medical Research Centre (NMRC), Yaba.
At NIMR, she rose to the position of Senior Accountant and later moved to the Lagos State University in 1983 where she had a sterling career and rose to the position of University Bursar in November 2000. She retired from service in 2005.
As a typical "Ekiti" and determined woman at over fifty years, she completed her ICAN exams to become a Chartered Accountant. At over 70 years she wanted to start a PhD and just few weeks ago, she was insisting she wanted her drivers license renewed at over 78 years!
Olayemi Asabi loved God passionately from her youth. She sang in the choir alongside her late husband whom she got married to on 12 Dec 1968 and by some arrangement went home to be with the Lord on his posthumus birthday 28 March 2025.
She is a devout born again with her focus on meeting with her maker someday.
Mrs Olayemi Bajomo was involved in many church activities at Winners Chapel, Ota were she was a dedicated worker in the elders group, benevolence, etc. Her home birthed and hosted the Winners Chapel Area fellowship in Agbara for many years.
In her early twenties, her zeal for Christ inspired her to co- found the Ladies Morning Star (now Christ Morning Star) in 1976 with Mrs Enitan Balogun (Nee Fakan) and Mrs Victoria Otegbade (Nee Anibaba).
She drew all young girls and ladies from nearly every family in the church. “Sister Yemi” as she was fondly called by all, was the President for many years until the society decided to rotate the Presidency.
Christ Morning Star society focused on the development of of the church with an annual fund raising luncheon. At the same time, Mrs. Bajomo encouraged professionalism by giving encouragement to members on their chosen career paths.
She was biological mother of Ayodele, Akinkunmi & Oluwafemi while she mentored, groomed and 'parented" many others that her paths crossed in life.
May her ever so loving and gentle spirit continue to rest in her maker's bossom
