Ocie Morgan, 83, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. Memorial services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Nolan, Texas with Reverend Vic Meyer officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Ocie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 31, 1940 to Paul and Zora (Miller) Morgan. He married Rheba Lynn McDaniel on September 5, 1959 in Fort Worth. They have been married for over 64 years. He loved his family and supported them in all their interests, serving as a Boy Scout Leader and Softball Coach. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger.
Ocie retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1998 after serving his country for 37 years in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force career, he worked on numerous types of aircraft including F-16's and the Space Shuttle solid rocket boosters for NASA. He and Rheba moved to Nolan County in 2000 to start a second career as a rancher and insurance adjuster.
He is survived by the love of his life, Rheba Morgan of Sweetwater, Texas; a son, Steve Morgan and wife Kim of Rowlett, Texas; two daughters, Carrie Buck and husband Jeff of Brownwood, Texas, and Patti Golding of Nolan, Texas; a brother Dewayne Morgan of Nolan, Texas; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Edward Morgan and Bill Morgan, and son-in-law Mike Golding.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ocie's honor to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
