Norris Douglass Sloan went to his heavenly home Thursday, August 19th, 2021. Doug was born on November 17, 1933, in Altus, OK to Clayton Sloan and Evie Clinkscales. He served during the Korean War as a U.S. Marine stationed in Japan. After leaving the service he married his wife of 54 years, Mary Noble on August 21, 1967, in Vernon, TX. They moved to Amarillo, TX in 1971 and he worked as a dispatcher for Panhandle Gravel until he retired in 2003. He relocated with his wife to Midland, TX in 2018 to live with his son. Doug enjoyed yard work, tending to his pets, reading, history, and collecting treasures. Doug will be remembered for his sense of humor, stubborn spirit, and his love of collecting things.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Bob Clinkscales; sister, Helen Peyton and brother-in-law, Eddie Peyton.
Doug is survived by his wife, Mary Sloan; 1 son, Jimmy Sloan, and wife Autumn; 2 granddaughters, Abby and Maggie; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
There will not be a service at this time. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, (855)-448-3997.
