Mrs. Norma J. Hammond, age 67 of Oblong, IL passed away on Saturday November 26, 2022, at 11:59 AM at Deaconess Mid-Town Hospital, Evansville, IN following a long period of failing health.
Born October 20, 1955, in Robinson, IL, she was one of four children born to Thomas E. "Tommy" and Treasy (Beard) Brazzell-Evelin. Norma graduated with the Robinson High School class of 1977. On September 13, 1977, she married Jerry L. Hammond, and he survives. The two had been together for a total of forty-eight years.
Norma was a CNA for Newton Rest Haven, before coming to Cotillion Ridge Nursing Care and Rehab in Robinson, IL, where she spent the remainder of her working career. The last few years found Norma working with older residents as an Exercise Therapist at Cotillion Ridge. Norma was a member of the Berlin Congregational Christian Church, Rural Oblong, IL.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Jerry L. Hammond, Oblong, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Nicki L. Hammond, Robinson, IL, Freddy L. and Crystal Hammond, Laurens, IA; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi B. and Evert Clark, Springfield, IL; eight grandchildren, Rylee, Macee and Rykar Hammond; Brooklynn, Jessa and Sadie Hammond;; Andrew Weiscope and Jazz Herrera; two great grandchildren, Tatem and Callum Weiscope; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Allen and Connie Brazzell, Rushville, IL; three sisters, Ms. Teri Obst, Lexington, KY, Ms. Rebecca "Becky" Brazzell, Indianapolis, IN and Ms. Abby (Evelin) Roeder, Bedford, IN along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her maternal grandmother who raised Norma, Clara Beard.
A Twilight Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday December 5, 2022, at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, IL with Pastor John Griffin officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until time of services at 7:00 PM on December 5, 2022, at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded following funeral services.
