Nora B. Oliver, 85, of New Albany, Indiana formerly of Lafayette, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Baptist Health Floyd. Bea was born on May 23, 1936 in Temple Hill, Kentucky and raised in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was one of eight children born to James Robert and Doyle "Pitcock" Coe. Bea graduated from Temple Hill High School in Glasgow, Kentucky in 1954. While Attending Temple High School, she met and married the love of her life Marshall "Daryl" Oliver on September 11, 1954. There were married four days shy of their 63rd wedding anniversary when Daryl passed away on September 7, 2017.
When her husband returned home from the Army, Bea and Daryl and their first born son, moved to Lafayette, Indiana. Bea worked retail for 30 years working at several stores in the Lafayette area; K-Mart, Target, Fosters Films, Hudlow Dry Cleaning, Olan Mill Portrait Studio. She also sold Tupperware and Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Bea and Daryl moved to New Albany, Indiana when Daryl transferred from the Pillsbury Plant in Lafayette, Indiana. After Daryl retired, they traveled for a few years going to different areas of the United States. Bea became a homemaker. She loved to get together with friends and family, play games and cook. In her later years, she was a Red Hatter and in a bunco club, church groups and other social activities. One thing you could say about Bea, is if you asked for it or not, you would get her opinion and how you should do it. She was never one to shy away from a good debate.
Bea leaves behind her children, Marshall "Glenn" Oliver of New Albany, Indiana, Tobin A. Oliver of Sellersburg, Indiana and Sheila (Oliver) Niccum and her husband, Joe of Lafayette. Bea also leaves behind five grandchildren, Travis Oliver of Frankfort, Indiana, Jessica Oliver Mullendore of Colfax, Indiana, Natasha Oliver of Sellersburg, Indiana, Zackary Oliver of Lafayette, Indiana and Seth Niccum of Lafayette, Indiana. Bea is a great grandmother of thirteen; she has two siblings,Jerry (Sue) Coe and Terry Coe of Glasgow, Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daryl Oliver; parents, James Robert and Doyle Pitcock Coe; and five siblings, Carly Coe, Ruby Fitzgerald, Rosemary Pirtle, Della Rene' Jones and Noble Dean Coe.
Visitation for Nora will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home with entombment at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
