KLORES NOEL H. KLORES Noel H. Klores, attorney and beloved brother, father, grandfather, boyfriend, and patrón, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022, at the age of 89. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Class of 1957, he was a founding member of the Office of Economic Opportunity, where he worked with Sargent Shriver to lead President Lyndon B. Johnson's "war on poverty." As Director of Special Programs, he focused on eliminating poverty in Native American reservations and among the country's migrant farm workers. President Johnson recognized his efforts by personally awarding him the William A. Jump Memorial Award for outstanding service. He later served as Director of New York City Mayor John Lindsay's Washington, D.C., office and assisted in Lindsay's 1971 run for President of the United States. In private practice for the next 30 years, he focused on non-profit law. An avid world traveler, by the age of 35 he had visited virtually all of Europe, the Middle East, and a good deal of Asia. He bicycled through the Loire Valley, spent D-Day in Normandy and Bloomsday in Dublin, and took regular vacations to Puerto Vallarta and Paris. He was a lifelong tennis player, a noted raconteur, and the author of a privately published children's book he wrote for his adored granddaughter, Rose. He loved wine, cold beer, Thanksgiving, good jokes, classical music, and all things French. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Rose and Alexander Klores, and two beloved dogs, Muffy and Coco. He leaves behind his brother Malcolm, son Lars, daughter-in-law Andrea (the daughter he never had), granddaughter Rose, long-time girlfriend Kathy Borrus, her son Josh Jorgenson-Finn, his wife Hannah, and their daughter Gwendolyn. There will be no public service, but donations in his memory may be made to the Capital Area Food Bank (humanerescuealliance.org (http://humanerescuealliance.org)).
