Nicol?s R. Quezada, 87, entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 9, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Adela Rosas and sister, Guadalupe Davila.
Nicol?s is survived by his wife, Herminia A. "Mine" Quezada of McAllen; two children, Marissa Quezada of McAllen, Texas; and Nicol?s A. Quezada III, of Dallas Texas, as well as his daughter in law, Elia, and two grandchildren, Alejandro and Fernanda Quezada, also of Dallas.
Nicol?s "Nick" served as a member of the McAllen ISD school board from 1991-2000. In 2000, Nicol?s was named School Board Member of the Year by the Texas Classroom Teachers Association.
Nicol?s was also an active AARP volunteer who worked as a congressional liaison between AARP and South Texas legislators, as well as a long-standing member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic community in McAllen.
Nick was an inspirational man who was a strong believer in the importance of education for his children, as well as for all students of McAllen ISD. Nick's legacy will live on with the opening of three schools during his tenure as school board member.

Rosary will be recited at Kreidler Funeral Home of McAllen from 6-8 PM on Monday, May 17. Funeral mass will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, May 18 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, followed by 3 PM burial at Valley Memorial Gardens on Taylor Road in Mission.
