Nellie (Harryman) Snyder, 96, of Nampa died December 29, 2021 at Karcher Estates.
Nellie was born in Weiser, Idaho December 24, 1925 to William and Amanda Harryman. She graduated from Weiser High School in 1944. She received her BA degree from Northwest Nazarene College in Elementary Education. She earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Boise State University in 1974. Her Administrative Certificate was completed in 1979 at the College of Idaho. She married Eldon R. Snyder May 23, 1946 in Morrison Hall Parlor at Northwest Nazarene College. They made their home in Nampa. She worked in the Registrar's Office at NNC while attending college and worked at The College of Idaho from 1952 to 1960 as Assistant to the Business Manager. Her 24 years of teaching included third grade, Resource teacher, Chapter I Reading and Math at Roosevelt, Lincoln, Kenwood, East Side, Sunny Ridge and old Greenhurst Schools. She also tested at St. Paul's and Zion Lutheran. She traveled throughout Idaho to attend and conduct workshops and also in Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington and California. Nellie was an avid reader and enjoyed outdoor flowers and trees and trying new recipes. She enjoyed creating stories, reading and playing games with her children and grandchildren. Eldon and Nellie combined narration and songs for nursing homes, retirement homes and churches in Lowman, Kellogg, Jackpot, Nevada and for The King's Travelers and 55 or Better at First Church.
Nellie was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and attended Lowman Community Church during summers.
Nellie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, ElDonna and Dwain Lowry; her daughter-in-law Laurie Snyder, grandchildren Greg Lowry, Dane and Bridgette Lowry; Brianna and Caz Sowinski, Emily and Travis Gothard, great grandchildren, David, Anna, Alizabeth Lowry and Amara and Annika Gothard.
She was preceded in death by her son Brian Snyder, her husband, parents, and her brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Nellie's life will be held at a later date.
