Narnie Reinhardt Buchanan was born April 15, 1932 in Garden Valley, Texas. She had been a resident of Midland for 11 years, formerly living in Mt. Sylvan. Narnie was educated; she graduated from Van High School and attended Tyler Junior College. She was a member of Lindale Garden Club and had the ultimate green thumb. Mrs. Buchanan enjoyed both growing and arranging flowers. She owned and worked at Lindale Floral Shop for many years. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Narnie married James F. "Sonny" Buchanan on June 2, 1956 in Van, Texas. Together, they made their home in East Texas until Sonny's death in 2011. Shortly after, Narnie moved to Midland, where she enjoyed her life at The Village at Manor Park, but her heart always belonged to East Texas.
Narnie passed away at the age of 91 on December 18, 2023 in Midland. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. (Sonny) Buchanan; parents, Zeb and Bessie Reinhardt; siblings, Joyce Backs, Z.V. Reinhardt, Eugene Reinhardt, Keith Reinhardt, and Mary Frances Ellison DuBose; two nephews; and two nieces.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay & Tom Zeltmann of Midland and Kathy & Mark Beny of College Station and grandson, Douglas Zeltmann and wife, Valerie of Colorado. She is also survived by two nieces and three nephews.
A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Buchanan at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Mt. Sylvan Cemetery with Bro. Bruce Rudd officiating, under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van. A reception will follow at Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Beny, Tom Zeltmann, Doug Zeltmann, Gerald Allen, Glen Patrick, Mark Patrick, Mike Rowley, Kenny Allen, and Andy Peden.
If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland or Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church.
