Nannie Jones Linville, 89, of White plains, Maryland, passed away on the evening of July 24th, 2024, at her home in Heritage in St. Charles.
She was born, Nannie Lee Jones, on June 29, 1935, in Pinetops, North Carolina, to the late Albert Jones and Edith (Simmons) Jones. Nannie graduated from South Edgecombe High School in Pinetops, North Carolina. She attended King's Business College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In 1955, Nannie moved to Washington, DC. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 1958, she met her loving husband, Darrell Linville. They were wedded in 1962, and were blessed with 62 years of marital union, going on to have two sons, Brian Keith and Mark Dewayne.
In 1977, Nannie became the Director of the Grace Baptist Church School and Day Center, in Bryans Road, Maryland. She worked there till her retirement in 2000. Where she continued to be involved at the church.
Nannie had many talents. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed trying new recipes for her family. She could sew and crochet. Nannie was a collector of lighthouse figurines and memorabilia. She enjoyed traveling, especially going with her husband, Darrell, to the International Association for Identification Forensic Educational Conferences. Nannie dearly loved her two kitties, Princess and Pixie, who preceded her in death. She was a fan of the Hallmark Channel, especially the Christmas movies. Nannie most enjoyed spoiling her great-grandniece, Skylar Kornegay.
Nannie was predeceased by her parents, Albert Jones and Edith (Simmons) Jones, and her brothers-in law James Calvin Hathaway and Rufus "Jack" Pendergrass. She is survived by her devoted husband, Darrell, her loving sons, Brian and Mark, her dear sisters Joyce Hathaway and Catherine Pendergrass, and cherished nieces Carol, Susan, and Donna. Additionally, Nannie is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Visitation will be held at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, Maryland 20646, on Wednesday, July 31st, at 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of La Plata, 9070 Hawthorne Rd, La Plata, MD 20646. Followed by the interment at Trinity memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Charles County Rescue Squad.
