Last call for Nancy [Smith] Walden, 75, was Thursday June 9, 2022. The longtime bartender (and co-owner) at Fenton’s beloved Walden’s Lounge was home surrounded by family as her brief but intense battle with cancer came to a close. Born on the Smith family farm in Rose Township in 1946, Nancy was the youngest of eight children. Her sense of humor was one of a kind and her personality was as big as her smile. She loved her family. And she loved her work. 9am dragging her kids to the school bus, or 2am flipping on the ugly lights – Nancy’s zest for life was always the same – served warm.
Nancy is predeceased by husband Malvin “Babe” Walden; son Malvin William Walden; parents Leo and Belle; brothers Jimmy, Eddie and Larry; and sister Pat. She is survived by her two daughters: Phyllis (Santiago) Pinon and Charlotte (Steven) Oliver; four grandchildren Joseph, Lilliahna, Victoria and Freya; two brothers: Bill (Iva Jo) Smith and Tommy Smith and sister Peggy (Frank) Rappuhn.
Donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Mon. June 13, 2022 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Father Roy Horning officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Sunday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton.
