Nancy Louise Tarbox, 79, of Brandywine, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022 with her daughter holding her hand.
Born on July 28, 1942 in Washington, D.C., Nancy was the daughter of the late Howard Ervin Thornton, Sr. and the late Nancy Louise (Gravenor) Thornton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Owen "Dewey" Tarbox; and one brother, Howard E. Thornton, Jr.
Nancy was a lifelong resident of the Baden/Brandywine area actually, raising her family directly across the street from where she grew up as a child. Nancy retired as an Administrative Assistant with the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, D.C. in 2004. She was a very active lady and enjoyed many hobbies and activities, including 4-H, baking, cooking, bowling, playing the slot machines, and taking trips to Florida and Ocean City, Maryland. She always had a smile and was a very kindhearted person. Nancy most enjoyed spending time with family and close friends, which she cherished even more after the untimely passing of her husband, Dewey Tarbox, on September 15, 2016.
She is survived by her two sons, Bernie Tarbox and his wife, Debbie, and Matthew Tarbox and his wife, Karee; one daughter, Valerie Pulliam and her husband Steven; one brother, John E. Thornton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
