Nancy Elton Norman Miller (83) passed away on January 16, 2021 just three days after the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Thomas H. Miller, Sr. Born February 17, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee during the Great Flood of the Ohio River. Her parents had to flee flood waters to Memphis from their home in Paducah, Kentucky. Nancy grew up in Paris, Tennessee and graduated from Grove High School. She then attended Memphis State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She later moved to Tampa, Florida where she met and married Tom Miller. After their first child was born, Nancy chose to stay home and raise her three children. She was a member of the Junior Woman's Club, Yates Cool School Bowling League as well as a popular bridge club that met on Tuesday nights. Nancy was a natural and gifted storyteller. She loved genealogy and family history. She published 3 books. The first was A Lifetime of Christmases which was an autobiography centered around her favorite holiday. The second was Dotsie's Folks which was a history of her mother's side of the family. Finally, she spent many years compiling favorite family and friend's recipes which included photos and facts in A Lifetime of Christmas Cooking and Treasured Family Recipes. Although Florida was her home, Nancy loved the Great Smokey Mountains. Her favorite vacation spot was Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Dwight Lee Norman and Dorotha Jeanette Meacham Norman and most recently by her husband, Thomas Harold Miller, Sr. She is survived by her loving family; brother Mickey(Jan) Norman of Paris, Tennesee; children Lynne(Bruce) Korte, Cindy(John) Miller-Ray and Thom(Christie) Miller, Jr.; grandchildren, Christopher(Laura) Korte, Katrina (Bobby) Triplett, Kelly (Nick) Cabina, Kayla Korte, Sky Ray, Micaela Miller and Gracie Miller; and great grandchildren, Carlee Korte, Crosby Korte, Annsley Triplett, Gabriel Triplett, Ryder Triplett, Huckston Triplett, Clyde Cabina and Brooks Cabina.
A Joint Memorial Service for both Nancy & Tom will be held January 21st at 11:00am; Bell Shoals Baptist Church, located 2102 Bell Shoals Rd, Brandon, FL 33511. Visitation is at 10:00am. There will be a Livestream of the service on Facebook. Serenity Meadows has been entrusted with arrangements.
