Nancy Ann Dimmick passed peacefully away on April 24, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Nancy was a native Savannahian born to Bob and Betty Dimmick. She spent her youth in Savannah, graduated from H.V. Jenkins High School, and attended Armstrong State College. With a true talent in art and photography, she was accepted into the famed Kodak medical photography program at the Rochester Institute of Technology where she honed her craft and worked for many years. It was there she met and married Stanley "Stan" Bissell. She and Stan traveled the world together as part of his work as an RIT Professor before returning to Savannah to live in 2004. Nancy had the unique ability to see things differently behind her Hasselblad camera - whether it was capturing the smile of a small child, the flight of a rare bird, or the intricacy of a microscopic surgical procedure - she saw something others did not and was able to share that vision through her amazing photographs. Nancy moved through life as a loving and free spirit, welcoming opportunities and challenges along the way with her signature verve and enthusiasm. She was interested in people and their ideas and they responded to her empathy and insight. As she valiantly fought her illness over the last years of her life, she demonstrated the true heart of a lion - showing her family and friends how to live fully with a positive outlook in spite of physical limitations. Nancy's zest for life, sharp and witty sense of humor and the joy she felt for the little things was truly inspiring. Those of us who had the privilege of having her in our lives were rightly blessed and forever changed.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her brother Bobby and her beloved husband, Stan.
She is survived by her brother Walter (Mary), along with several cousins, nephews, a niece and a number of dear friends.
A private ceremony will take place in the near future.
