Nancy Eileen Bullock passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in The Plains, VA.
Nancy was born on May 20, 1946 in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of Fred and Doris Nightingale. She graduated from Annandale High School in 1964. Always brimming with energy, she enjoyed playing softball and bowling in her adult life. Her passion for games also found her playing card games with friends, once or twice a week. Nancy volunteered at weekly road races with the Shenandoah Valley Runners where her partner of 25 years, Bob Gurtler, raced. She and Bob always enjoyed and looked forward to their yearly vacations in Hawaii. Nancy was active in her community and did many years of volunteer work in The Plains.
After high school, Nancy attended and graduated from the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington, DC. She used those skills working at Atlantic Research Corporation, which later became part of Aerojet. Nancy rose to the job of Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of both ARC and Aerojet. She retired in 2011 after 44 years of service.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents Fred and Doris Nightingale. She leaves behind Bob Gurtler, her partner of 25 years; Bob's daughter Katherine Gurtler and husband Javiar Molina; her sister Jane McDonald and husband John; nephews Todd Banks and Scott Banks; several great nieces and nephews; and one great great nephew.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Nancy will be interred in the Nightingale family plot at Hillcrest Cemetery in Clearfield, PA. Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but she leaves all with many wonderful memories.
