Myrtle Elizabeth Jackson (nee Powell) died peacefully on March 23, 2021 in Pensacola, FL.
Myrtle was born on September 16, 1924 in Pensacola to the late Richard Marion Powell and Cora Macks. She was a real-life Rosie the Riveter, having worked at the Pensacola shipyard during WWII. It was there she met a handsome young sailor from Barberton, OH, fell madly in love, and moved to Akron, OH where they raised their five children: Sam, Ellen, Carl, Philip, and Mary.
Throughout her years, Myrtle was primarily a homemaker, volunteering her time with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and working in the cafeteria at Immaculate Conception School. She also spent 10 years as a production line worker at the Sun Rubber Company.
Having lived to the ripe old age of 96, she was preceded in death by most of her immediate family. These special people include her mother and father, three husbands: Paul Morlan and Peter Postak, of Ohio, and John Jackson of Pensacola, FL, eight brothers and sisters, three children: Sam Morlan (Lora Avens), Ellen Morlan, and Carl Morlan (Lana Morlan, also deceased), and one granddaughter, Heather Morlan.
Myrtle is survived by her son Philip Morlan (Marsha), her daughter Mary Morlan, grandchildren Marie Pickle (Phil), Jason Borkowski (Jackie), Lisa Kane (Tom), Elyse Morlan (Ryan Kromer), and William Morlan, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Those who knew her will forever remember her friendly and winsome smile.
Due to Covid-19, no services will be held at this time. A graveside memorial will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, OH.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Shriners Children's Hospitals or the Save the Manatee Club.
