Myra Schiley, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2020 due to natural causes.
Myra was born on March 12, 1934 in Butler, SD, to Everett and Esther Swanson. On November 4, 1952, she married the love of her life, Jim Schiley who preceded her in death in 1998. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Cecil Swanson, and her sister Alice McCargar.
Myra worked side by side with Jim to run their farm and raise 7 kids. In later years, after they sold the livestock and started renting out the land, Myra went to work at Sun Dial Manor where she worked in the kitchen for a number of years before retiring. In recent years Myra moved into Heritage in Webster where she lived out her life.
Myra was an active member of St Anthony's Catholic Church and belonged to the Altar Society. In the early years Myra and Jim were avid square dancers and spent many evenings kicking up their heels. She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
Myra is survived by her 7 children, Janet Resler and husband Tom, Linda Fogle, Raymond Schiley, Rodney Schiley, Kathleen Coletta, Suzanne Landon and husband Randy, Patricia Premus and husband Calvin; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The public is invited to pay their respects during a virtual Celebration of Life using the Zoom platform on Saturday, December 12th at 4:00pm CST, 2:00pm PST. This is a difficult time to not be amongst friends in person, so we would be grateful if everyone would join us there to honor Myra and her life. We will have a slideshow and if you have a story or comment you want to share about Myra, we encourage you to do so at this virtual event.
