Myra passed away on February 12, 2022, in Rusk, Texas. She was born on May 18, 1930, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Norvel and Jessie Prince. Myra grew up in the Lilbert Community and graduated from Cushing High School after initially attending the Lilbert school house and, a brief time attending school in China, TX while her parents worked in the ship yards in Orange, TX during World War II. After graduation from high school, she worked for a short time at an ice cream parlor in Kilgore, TX. Myra returned to Lilbert and married the love of her life, Reuben Thomas in 1948, after his return from World War II. Reuben and Myra made their home on CR 870 Thomas Road in the Lilbert community less than half a mile from her childhood home. From that 47-year marriage they were blessed with four children. Myra "DeanDean" as she was affectionately called by everyone that knew her was an excellent cook who never met a stranger. Her home was always a warm welcoming place for generations of people in the Lilbert Community. Whether baking for community fund raiser, or cooking a large dinner for family and friends prior to 42 games, or making dozens of popcorn balls at Halloween for the local children her home was a very special place in the Lilbert Community. Myra attended the Lilbert Methodist Church her entire life serving as the church Treasurer for over 25 years. She loved her family and community, and is blessed to be laid to rest in Redland Cemetery just off the county road bearing her family name, where countless happy memories were made during her wonderful 91-year life. Myra is survived by her four children. Sons Michael Earl Thomas and wife Judy of Lilbert, TX; Gary Dean Thomas of Lilbert, TX; Darrel Hudson Thomas of Cushing, TX; and daughter Becky Raney and husband John of Lilbert, TX.
