Murray Eugene Reynolds, age 92, husband of the late Eleanor "Jerry" Reynolds, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Zionsville Meadows.
Gene was born on November 10, 1929 in Greensburg, IN to Thomas Murray Reynolds and Opal (Sanders) Reynolds. He was a 1947 graduate of Zionsville High School. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Eleanor "Jerry" (Yoder) Reynolds. He also proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War Conflict. Gene and Jerry owned and operated "The General Store" in Zionsville for over 30 years. He also sold meats to local restaurants and institutions. He served on the Zionsville planning commission for over 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a founding member of The American Legion Post 79 in Zionsville. He could often be found playing cards at his reserved table at Big Dave's Deli. He had a larger than life personality and was known for his wit, sense of humor and unmatched sarcasm. Gene was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 49 years, Jerry Reynolds and his brother, Bob Reynolds.
A visitation will be held at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore St., Zionsville, on Tuesday, February 15 from 4-7PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 16 at 11AM.
