Muriel (Griswold) Hall "Betsey", widow of Forrest G. Hall "Joe", passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, surrounded by family. Joe and Betsey were married for 64 years. Betsey was born in Meriden, Connecticut in 1929 and moved to Durham upon her and Joe's marriage in 1951. She was very active in the Durham community.
Besides being a Durham firefighters wife for over 50 years, she was a very active with the Durham Agricultural Fair Association, holding multiple positions. As a Registered Nurse, she took part in multiple vaccination clinics, including smallpox and polio clinics and worked in bloodmobile clinics as well.
As an avid quilter, she chaired multiple town and church quilting projects
Betsey survived her four children, Marilyn Greaves (Michael) of Rindge, New Hampshire, grandchildren Brett and Erin Ortiz (Eddy), great grandchildren, Lorelai, Logan and Graydon Ortiz; Merri-Ellen Boivin (Roger) of Voluntown, CT, grandchildren, Megan Schippert (Jason), and their children, Quinton and Lochlan Schippert and daughter, Carla Hampton (Josh) and great grandchildren, Tesla, Haley and Lucus Hampton; Laurie Gleba (Ralph) in Bluffton, South Carolina and grandson, Mike Gleba (Jacee) and great grandchildren, Graham and Garrett and grandson Mark Gleba (Abby); Kenneth Hall (Lorna) and grandson Tyler Hall. She also leaves two sisters Mary Jane Arcand of Florida and Nancy Zabel of Rhode Island.
The family would like to thank Ocean Meadow Memory Care in Clinton, CT and Athena Hospice Care for their loving care and support through Betsey and her family's journey with vascular dementia.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 15 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. A service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
