Muriel P. (Hatfield) Gawrys, 89, of Salem, N.H., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, at Bridges by EPOCH in Nashua, N.H., surrounded by her loving family.
Muriel was raised in Lawrence, Mass. and was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Eva Hatfield. The long-time resident of Salem, N.H. spent many years working as an operator for AT&T, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
In her free time, Muriel, known by many as Grammy, GG or Mimi, took great pleasure in life's simple joys. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, completing "search-a-word" puzzles, playing the card game Rummy and taking trips to the casino, which she always looked forward to. Muriel had a deep love for animals and cherished all pets. She found happiness in caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Muriel will be deeply missed by her three children: Edward Gawrys Jr.; Brenda Levesque and her husband Brian; and Glenn Gawrys and his wife Brenda. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy; her 13 grandchildren, Diane, Edward III, Derek, Julie, Meghan, Michael, Joshua L., Kayla, Miranda, Alyssa, Christian, Joshua G., and Chase; as well as many great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Gawrys, her husband Stephen Sevoian, and by her five siblings: Ernest Hatfield, Dorothy Gile, Richard Hatfield, Elaine Arsenault, and Alan Hatfield.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, New Hampshire, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home. Burial is in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence, MA. Memorial contributions in Muriel's name may be made to the Greater Derry Humane Society P.O.
