Wilda Mae Raxter Giddings entered into rest on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. She was born August 7, 1930, in Anadarko, Ohio to David Agner Raxter and Sarah Minora (Minnie) Thomasson Raxter.
Widow of Edwin Merrill Giddings (d. September 1, 2006), she was preceded in death by her parents. Four brothers, (Newell, Cecil, Arlin, and Charles), two sisters, Opal Raxter Rogers and Inaree Raxter McIntosh and two infant siblings.
Wilda married Edwin Merrill Giddings on May 7, 1949, in El Sobrante, California. The family lived in Maryland, Virginia Beach, VA, Pennsylvania, Alexandria, VA, New Jersey. Nashville, TN, Aiken, SC, and New Ellenton, SC. Wilda worked as a cashier. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, crafts, and compiling and publishing two family recipe books. She made friends everywhere she went. After a bad fall, she moved to Croft House where she continued to make friends and enjoy.
Wilda is survived by sons. Dennis Edwin Giddings (Diane), born in Albany, California, Mark Remington Giddings (Kathy), born in Norfolk, VA, and Curtis Arthur Giddings (Susan), born in Norfolk, VA; her sister, Pauline Raxter Bell; grandchildren: Traci Giddings Moyer (Ken), Ed Giddings (Cherity), Sarah Giddings London (Jake), Daniel Giddings (Hannah), and Rebekah Giddings Slater (Jon); great-grandchildren: Jacob Goff, Heidi Brendle (Levi), Hollie, Abigail, Tiffany and Nina Moyer, Brennon Giddings (Aryn), Elija, Chloe, and Brooklyn Slater, Jacks and Eva London, Rivers Giddings, and two great-great grandsons: Lucien and James.
A special thanks and appreciation to Laurie and Diane, Mom's caretakers in her final years.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 2 until 3 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New Ellenton, SC followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Joseph Kovas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Moyer, Jon Slater, Denny Giddings, Ed Giddings, Mark Giddings, and Curt Giddings.
