Mrs. Marie Cox Folker, 72, of Hinesville, GA, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at her home.
She was born in Glenville, GA to the late Clifford and Myrtle Boyette Cox. She was a faithful member of Elim First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, and helped in cooking/delivering meals to shut-ins once a week for many years. She retired from the Chatham County Board of Education after 33 years, serving in the Special Education Department in several areas of the school system, including at Groves High School for 16 years before retiring. She will be remembered for her community outreach and always wanting to help others.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Billy D. Folker; children, Daniel Baxter (Erika), Elizabeth Kangeter (Ray), and Kelly Folker Fields; step-children, John Folker (Kim) and Kim Connelly (Tim); grandchildren, Jordan Kangeter, Preston Knowles, Riley Scott, Griffin Knowles, Abby Scott, Greyson Fields, and Minka Kangeter; step-grandchildren, Cody and Megan Folker; siblings, Jo Durrence, John Howard Cox, Sue Johnson, Jimmy Cox, Jack Cox and Jerry Cox, their spouses; sisters-in-law, Shirley Carter and Belinda Flanigan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The service to celebrate Marie's life was at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Elim First Baptist Church located at 6650 Elim Church Road NE in Ludowici, GA.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances were given to the Elim First Baptist Church, Mission Fund.
