Mrs. Laura Snipes Baker, 95, of Aiken, SC passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 5th, 2022.
Laura was born in Charlotte, NC, January 10th, 1927, to John Henry Snipes and Blanche Watts Snipes of Pageland, SC. She was one of eleven children and was the last of her generation. Laura spent her life as a dedicated wife and loving mother to her six children. Throughout her life, she provided day care for many children and was an active volunteer in church activities. She enjoyed gardening and planted many fruit and flowering trees at Hitchcock Place, where she lived for 12 years. She loved to cook and shared her skill and love of cooking with all of her children. Laura was known as a gentle soul who loved and witnessed for the Lord and was loved by everyone.
Laura was predeceased by her loving husband of 28 years, Wilbert B. Baker, and her son, Douglas H. Baker. She is survived by her children, David B. Baker and Joseph A. Baker of Fayetteville, NC; Michael D. Baker of James Island, SC; Steven E. Baker of Aiken, SC; and Beverly A. Baker of Weirton, WV. She was blessed with five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held in Pageland, SC, at a later date.
