Mrs. JoAnn Radford Huffman, 95, entered Heaven on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother Elaine Crumpler, father William R. Border, step-father R.P. Crumpler, her husbands, Charles B. Radford and Lawrence D. Huffman, and a half-sister, Gretchen Border.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the North Chapel of Oakey's Funeral Service and Crematory, 6732 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Her son-in-law, Rev. Jim Tucker, will officiate. Interment will follow in Blueridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, VA. Pallbearers will be Chris Fuqua, Cole Fuqua, Dennis Patrick, David Ragland, Doug Woodward and Ben Cross.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roanoke First Church of the Nazarene, 728 Highland Ave SE, Roanoke, VA 24013
Mrs. Huffman was born in Charleston, WV, to the late William Border and Ethel Elaine Keadle Border. She was a retired registered nurse with thirty-five-plus years of service. She worked for Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem, VA, and as a home health nurse for the Roanoke City Health Department. JoAnn was a long-time faithful member of Roanoke First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a board member, Sunday School teacher, missionary president, and more than can be listed. She most recently was a much-loved member of Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene, Graniteville, SC.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Sue Tucker (Jim), Kyles Ford, TN, Laura Cross (Ben), Aiken, SC, and Steve Radford (Kathy), Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Barbara Haddox (the late Bob), Lexington, KY, Nancy Pavelka (Tom), Greenville, SC, and Karen Anderson (Bud) seven grandchildren: Robin Ashley (Melvin), Chris Fuqua (Heather), Jeremy Fuqua (Jenn), Cole Fuqua (Rebecca), Lindsey Woodward (Doug), Michael Cross, Austin Radford, and Mallory Lyster (Tyler); great-grandchildren: Melvin Ashley Jr., Anthony Ashley, Jay Grimm, Chelsea Foster, Autumn Ruble, Drew Fuqua, Ashton Fuqua, Farrah Fuqua, Cameron Francis, Hunter Woodward, Madison Woodward, Areia Davis, Haydn Fowler, Hunter Ayers, Tristan Lyster, Zayden Lyster, Nora Lyster, and great-great-grandchildren, Myles Elliot, Colton Ashley, Ava Ashley, Scarlette Grimm, Finley Grimm, Aron Foster and Timothy Foster.
Oakey's Funeral Service and Crematory, North Chapel, 6732 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019, is assisting the family with arrangements.
