Mrs. Betty Lane Walker, wife of the late Thomas E. Walker, Sr., entered into rest surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. Affectionately referred to as Clyde by her husband Tom, of 49 years, and as Nanny to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters and their husbands Beverly & Tony Alfieri of Lexington, SC, and Carolyn & Bobby Owens of Jefferson, NC; son Tommy Walker of Warrenville, SC; sister Onita Lane Heath of Gloverville, SC; three grandchildren and their spouses Kristen & Kyle Dunno of Penfield, NY, Nick Alfieri & fianc?e Ashley Krause of Charleston, SC and Jessica & Colin Schaufler of Mackinaw, IL; two great-grandchildren Kylie & Patrick Dunno and many loved nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walker was born to the late John Murray and Ruby Spencer Lane. She was a strong follower of Jesus, with a steadfast faith in The Lord. Betty was a lifelong member of Pentecost United Methodist, serving in the choir, the United Methodist Women's Club and as acting treasurer for many years. A devoted wife and mother, she spent her life caring for those she loved most. She had a love of flowers, gardening, and birds. She enjoyed watching football, Nascar and golf. She loved fishing and visiting Edisto Beach to search for as many sharks' teeth as she could find. After her husband's retirement from Dupont, they spent their time traveling with lifelong family friends Billie Jean and Robert Toole of Montmorenci, SC.
A graveside service will be held privately for the family at Pentecost United Methodist Church with Rev. Pennye Duncan officiating. Memorials may be made in her memory to Pentecost United Methodist Church, PO Box 578, Warrenville, SC 29851.
