, 72, of East Bank, WV died Monday, June 18, 2018.
He was born September 26, 1945, in Kimball, WV, to the late Joseph Henry and Beulah Smith Russell.
William was a School Administrator. taught at Sharon Dawes, Malden, Ford, Chandler, and Glenwood Elementary Schools; served as principal at Tiskelwah and Chesapeake Elementary; served on the Board of Directors-Kanawha Valley Senior Services; was a member of Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, Senior and Inspirational Choirs, where he also served as Co. Chairman of Deacon Board, Building Fund President, Secretary of West Virginia State Baptist Convention; sang with The Martin Luther King, Jr. Male Chorus and was also Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge Bright Hope #9, Montgomery, WV.
Left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Angelia McElrath Russell; children, Enoch, Monica, Rubetta and Jolaina; three grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Anne Floyd and Norma D. Russell and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday June 23, 2018 at Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, 5125 Church Dr., Charleston, with Rev. James C. Jackson, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Friends may call from 6PM-8PM Friday, June 22, 2018 and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donations may be made to the Levi First Missionary Baptist Church Building or Scholarship Fund, in lieu of flowers.
