Profile of Life
Morris (Mike) Harris was born November 3, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio to Daniel and Willie Bell Harris. Mike attended school in Youngstown until he graduated high school. He then served in the United States Navy until 1969. After moving to Savannah from Cleveland Ohio in the mid 1970's, Mike attended Savannah Technical College and completed a course of study in truck driving . Mike was employed for many years by Grumman (now Gulfstream). After 17 years of service, he retired from Georgia Pacific in 2007.
Mike has been baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than 40 years. He was known for his sense of humor, his unique style of dress, his love for Jehovah and his eagerness to always help. He always had a joke for the children and always encouraged them to study and do well in school.
Mike leaves to cherish his memory,his devoted wife of 42 years, Dorothy Harris, one sone, Alan (Cynthia) Harris of Savannah, GA and two daughters, Michele Harris of Virginia Beach, VA and Katrina Brown (Babatunde) of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren Krystal Harris, Kevin Harris II, Mojisola Abass, and Helena Harris; one great grandson, Isaiah Harris; one brother, Wendell Harris and two sisters, Selina "Linda" Harris and Thelma (Candy) Humbert. Left to mourn his memory is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents (Daniel and Willie Bell Harris), one brother, Daniel Harris and one son, Derrick Harris.
