Mr. Edwin "Lavon" Bishop, 78, entered into rest on February 29, 2024.
Mr. Bishop was born in Swainsboro, GA to the late Rufus Bishop and Evelyn Peebles. He worked as a Parts and Service Director at Bobby Jones Ford in Augusta for over 40 years. Mr. Bishop was a talented woodworker and also enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling with his wife, Lillian. Mr. Bishop adored his family and was passionate about spending as much time with them as he could.
Mr. Bishop is preceded in death by his son, Edwin "Eddie" Bishop; and sister, Hilda Grimes. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lillian Bishop; children, Sherry Wallis (Steve), Michael Bishop (Rhonda) and Dewayne Bishop (Larry); siblings, Melba Mons (David) and Erue Jackson; grandchildren, Matthew Walden (Amanda), Sharon Lamb, Jessica Cantwell (Chris), Christopher Bishop (Allison), Lanie Bishop and Stephen Bishop; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Lamb, Madison Cantwell, Erin Cantwell and Christopher Cantwell.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, March 8, 2024 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 6-8pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Epilepsy Foundation 3540 Crain Highway Ste 675, Bowie, MD 20716.
