Mr. Carl Joe Gilmore, Sr., 78, of Cave Spring, died Tuesday evening, September 7, 2021, in a Rome hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Gilmore was born in Cedar Bluff, Alabama March 28, 1943, son of the late Andrew Franklin Gilmore and the late Pearl Woodall Gilmore. Mr. Gilmore worked through UA Local 72 of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters in Atlanta, was a long time member of the Mackey Masonic Lodge #120 F.&A.M., and was a member of the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. He was married to the former Sharon Faye Waits on July 29, 1962, and was preceded in death by her January 31, 2021.
Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Gilmore was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Leanne Gilmore February 13, 1017 and by his sister, Mrs. Nell Lowery October 2, 2017.
Survivors include one son, Carl Joe (Joey) Gilmore and his wife Vinita of Cave Spring, and three grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Gilmore (Scott Brown), Haley McCown and Jory (Jordan) McCown. Two great grandchildren, Walker McCown and Maggeigh McCown also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilmore will be held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12, 2021 at the John House's Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Dale Byars officiating. Interment will follow in the Cave Spring Cemetery with the Mackey Lodge #120 F. & A.M. in charge of the graveside rties.
Pallbearers will include Jory McCown, Jimmy Lowery, Allen Couey, Tom Payne, A. J. Stephens, and Scotty Brown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
