Morris was born April 22, 1945, in Robeson County, NC, to the late Carl Pittman Sessoms and Minnie Gibson Sessoms. During his employment years Morris managed meat stores and "M"Ages Landscaping, from which he retired in 2008. Morris served on numerous committees in his church. His gift to us and a joy to many was the time he spent as Santa, visiting many churches, nursing homes, and schools. Morris was the epitome of "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas."
In addition to his parents, Morris was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Carl Sessoms; a son, Leslie Allen Cox; and a grandson, Kennedy Wells Wainright. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Brooks Sessoms; 6 children: Jeannine Sessoms Everidge (John); Timothy Sessoms (Britney); Lynn Cox Gonzalez (Edwin); Leland G. Cox, Jr. (Julie); Elaine Wainright; Hannah McLawhorn (Shep). Morris enjoyed his role as Papa to his 20 grandchildren: Maghan Eversmith (Caleb); Melissa Osborne (Zack); T. J. Sessoms (Erica); Courtney S. Grice (Jesse); Aubree Sessoms; Allie Sessoms; Levi Sessoms; Wade Sessoms; Emma Sessoms; Melinda Gonzalez Davis (Brandon); Carmen Gonzalez Rice (Benjamin); Edwin Joel Gonzalez (Lindsey); Lucas Gonzalez (Dani-Rae); Manual Gonzalez (Beth); Anna Grace Cox; Jesse Claire Cox; Ava Lynn Dale; Jacob McLawhorn; Alysa McLawhorn Rouse (Will). Papa Morris also enjoyed his 17 great-grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews. Morris' siblings are Frank Sessoms, Bill Sessoms (Doreen), and Lisa Sessoms (Ron).
In lieu of flowers the family ask that to honor Morris you donate to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the care and attention Morris received while a patient at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. A special thanks to all the Nurses and others for taking care of Santa on the 3rd floor covid unit.
