Morris Reddick of Cuthbert GA passed peacefully at his home, in the presence of family and friends on June 1, 2022. He was born to the late Morris Sr. and Clementine Reddick, a business owner and homemaker, in Cuthbert GA in 1933. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) with a degree in business and worked for companies in Atlanta and Birmingham as a business consultant leading operational re-engineering engagements. Later he moved to Alexandria VA for a 15-year stint in management at Kay Jewelers headquarters before retiring and returning to his hometown.
Morris was blessed to meet and marry Gayle Canterbury whom he met attending church in Birmingham AL. They tied the knot in 1963 and spent nearly 40 years together prior to her passing. Morris helped raise his one daughter, Julia, with patience, discipline, and humility. He spent treasured time with Gayle and Julia hiking, biking, sledding, museum and movie going and enjoying family time. He taught Julia to read, write, draw, build models, play backgammon (a favorite game), play softball and build and fly kites. He followed her and high school running buddies on early morning pre sunrise runs. With his grandchildren Morris enjoyed fishing rodeos, picnics, making slingshots games and practical jokes. He truly had a humorous streak. He enjoyed and was fully present for all the adventures and moments of life with his family and close friends.
Morris was an educator at heart. He was inquisitive and creative, kind and thoughtful and always had time to help solve a problem, no matter the challenge or size. He imparted practical knowledge and hands on instruction to lend a hand where needed.
He will be dearly missed by his loved ones. Morris is survived by his daughter Julia Smith (Al) of Atlanta GA; grandchildren Taylor Thompson (Andrew) of Tacoma WA and Joshua Smith of Auburn AL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gayle; sister Elizabeth Denham (Sam) and his parents.
