Monty was born on July 25, 1972 to parents Mack & VeeDeanya Guthrie in Lawton, OK. He lived in Oklahoma until he was a sophomore in high school, when his family moved to Wyoming. After graduating Rock Springs High School in 1990, Monty joined the U.S. Marine Corps during Desert Storm. While stationed in Hawaii, he met Tina where they were married on July 4, 1993. They were married for 27 years.
He lived with his family in Springfield, VA for the past 16 years. He worked for Ascendent Program Services the past few years contracting for federal facilities. Monty is survived by his wife, Christina Guthrie, his two sons Connor and Alex Guthrie, his father and stepmom Mack and Anissa Guthrie, mother-in-law Jeanne Dahl, father-in-law Ken Dahl and stepmother-in-law Kathy Dahl, sister and brother-in-law Lori and Ronnie Wright, brother-in-law Chad Dahl, sister-in-law Tracy Malmi, nephew Clay Wright, and nieces Cailin Wright, Rachael Hanson and Cassie Gemuenden.
Monty was a loving husband, wonderful father, beloved son and brother. He loved watching his sons at all their soccer games. He never missed a game. Monty and his boys loved playing video games together, enjoyed watching comedy shows, and the family enjoyed listening to all types of music. He also enjoyed family ski trips and travelling anywhere Tina planned a trip for them. He just loved spending time with family, friends, and co-workers. His close friends and family will continue to love and cherish him.
He was preceded in death by his mother VeeDeanya (Dodson) Guthrie.
The service will be scheduled for later in the summer. While Monty was in the hospital, he needed 10 blood donations and 15 platelet donations. Please consider donating blood or platelets if you are able. We are very grateful to those individuals that donated blood products, which were available for Monty.
These words will never be all he is, all he was, or all he could have been.
