Monte Wike (Grady Monroe Wike, Jr.) went to rest in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 2:10 am surrounded by his family.
Monte was born March 15, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Grady Monroe Wike, Sr. and Viola Anna Cotten. His parents as well as his brother preceded him in death.
On January 24, 1954, Monte married Noma Jean Bumgarner. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2018. He is survived by all five of their children: Laura Flack and husband Bruce of Wood River, Illinois; Greg Wike and wife Nancy of Midland, Texas; Bruce Wike and wife Lisa of Henderson, Texas; Doug Wike and wife Pam of Dallas, Texas; and Sarah Emerson and husband Paul of Longview, Texas.
Monte is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Monte began his pastoral ministry at age 19 and he leaves a legacy that will last for generations to come. Countless lives have been impacted and touched by this caring, loving, kind-hearted, and generous man. Monte lived and loved large. He was well-known for his sense of humor, loud laugh, red face and plastic bag of stories and sermons. He was passionate about his faith, his family, music, art, mechanics and all modes of transportation.
