Monte Lee Snowden, 63, lifetime Ellensburg resident, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023 after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis with his beloved wife Toni and his son Nathan by his side. Monte and Toni were married May 31, 2002, and lived in Ellensburg for 18 years with their son Nathan and grandson Landon. Monte was born and raised in Ellensburg and moved away until 2004 when he returned to care for his father, Robert Snowden. Monte was born February 17, 1960 in Ellensburg to Robert (Bob) and Linda Snowden (Mackner). Monte graduated from Ellensburg High School and worked for Home Depot as a warehouse manager until he retired in 2004 due to Multiple Sclerosis. He loved all sports, especially basketball. He was an avid Gonzaga Bulldog fan.His greatest passion was hanging out with his family as well as mowing the lawn on his John Deere lawnmower. On any given day Monte could be seen mowing the lawn or sitting outside playing catch with Sully, his beloved Golden Retriever. Monte was known for his sense of humor, gentle spirit, huge smile and love for his family. Despite what life threw at him he was never angry or down and when asked how he was feeling his reply was always "fine." One of his greatest loves was being Papa to his seven grandchildren, Conor, Joely, Taylor, Griffin, Landon, Wesley and Jackson. He was happiest playing and spending time with them and they will miss him greatly.Monte is survived by his wife, Toni, sons Nathan Snowden, Brian Guyett, and Ryan Snowden, and daughters Tiffany Hulse and Ashley Snowden; mother Linda Snowden; Grandma Betty Bellessa; sister Becky Allers; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. We wish to express our sincere thanks and love to our dear friends Karen Poulsen and Cori and Troy Totten for their endless support and help throughout Monte's illness. We also wanted to extend our thanks to Chad Bearup and the Kittitas Hospice team as without all of you we wouldn't have been able to honor Monte's wish to remain home until his last breath. To that end, memorial contributions are suggested to KVH Hospice, 1506 E Radio Road in Ellensburg.Friends and Family are invited to a drop-in reception to celebrate Monte's life from 3:00-6:00 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at our home 3341 Tjossem Road, Ellensburg, WA 98926.Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Ellensburg.
