Monte Dwight Kidwiler Sr., 69, of Bakerton, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Jefferson Medical Center, Ranson, WV.
He was born on September 21, 1952 in Martinsburg, West Virginia and was the son of the late George I. Kidwiler Sr. and Esther Dopson Kidwiler Daffara.
Monte grew up and lived most of his life in Bakerton. He graduated from Harpers Ferry High School in 1972, which is where he met the love of his life, Donna Jean Kidwiler.
The same year, Monte enlisted in the United Stated Air Force becoming an aircraft mechanic for the T-38. He served until 1975. Monte was an avid hunter and fisherman. You would never find him without a big smile and a ballcap, He was well-known for his humor and wit and his inability to tell a story without using his hands. Monte lived a full and happy life with his wife of 50 years with 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
He was a faithful supporter of Fellowship Bible Church and attended virtually in recent years.
Monte is survived by his loving wife Donna Jean. September would have marked 51 years of marriage.
He is also survived by his son, Monte D. Kidwiler Jr. and wife Joyce and MJ's children, Natalie, Victoria, and Isaac; his daughter, Monica Karie Rockwell and husband, Charles (Chuck) and their children, Bailey, Paige, and Piper. Born this past year, Liam, who is Natalie's son, became Monte's first great-grandchild.
Monte also leaves behind his sister, Patricia Snyder, brother-in-law, Wayne Snyder, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Considered family, Monte also leaves behind Linda Raye Myers a life-long and faithful friend.
Monte is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and George I. Kidwiler Sr., his brother and sister-in-law, Ann and George I. Kidwiler Jr. and his daughter-in-law, Tina Lyn Kidwiler.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Fellowship Bible Church 160 Daniel Road, Shenandoah Junction, WV 25442 with Pastor Van Marsceau officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar (Harpers Ferry), WV, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at Fellowship Bible Church on Friday from 5pm to 8pm and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
For the attendees who'll remember Monte and his ballcap, you're invited to wear a ballcap to the church and graveside.
