Monnie Belle Morris passed from this life on October 3, 2021 in Bowie, Texas. She was born on July 18, 1927 in Gunter, Texas to J. C. and Lillie Gerdine (Woods) Walker. She married Loyd Kenneth Morris on November 25, 1945 in Howe, Texas. Monnie filled her days raising her children and taking care of her husband and home.
Monnie was preceded in death by her daughter Betty Lou Morris and son Bruce Kenneth Morris, as well as her brothers Marvin Walker, Melvin Walker, and Monroe Walker. Her sisters Mae Boyer, Minnie Umphress, Myrtle Achimon, Melba Goforth and Marie Dhane, and two infant siblings.
Monnie is survived by her husband Loyd Morris, and their three daughters Bonnie Helen Edes of San Angelo, Texas, Bertha Ann Jones of Azle, Texas and Brenda Sue Doshier of Nocona, Texas. As well as her sister Mildred Achimon of Howe, Texas. Her legacy will be carried on in her grandchildren Julie Mayfield, Anthony Edes and wife Barbara, David Jones and Heidi Blancarte and husband Louie, her great-grandchildren Cassidy Mayfiend, Andrew Mayfield, and Molly Edes, and her great-great grandchildren Lily Blancarte, Holly Blancarte and Ensleigh Edes as well as a host of extended family and friends.
After the girls had grown and left the house, Monnie began doll collecting. This hobby accumulated an extensive collection of dolls, but she was most proud of her Shirley Temple dolls. Monnie was a very faithful servant of God and was instrumental in leading her family to follow in her faith.
Monnie's services will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Nocona Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and services starting at 11:00 AM with David Hall and Michael Windham officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Starkey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
