Miriam Kathleen Ashley Lark, 99, of Anderson, SC, passed away July 18, 2022.
Miriam was born on May 1, 1923, to Samuel J. Ashley and Linnie E. Martin Ashley. She was educated at White Plains Primary and High School, where she was valedictorian of her class. As a life-long learner, Miriam studied at Lander College, where she played basketball, received a B.A. in Education from Limestone College and an M. Ed. from Clemson University. Miriam taught in various public elementary schools until her retirement in 1988. Miriam was most involved with activities at Boulevard Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Some of her most enjoyable Sunday mornings were as a member of the adult Sunday School class, taught by Dr. Jack Couch.
Miriam was pre-deceased by her loving and beloved husband of 70 years, R. Earl Lark, Sr. Miriam and Earl are survived by their loving children: Ray Lark of Columbia, SC; Kathy L. Weichel (Ken) of Central, SC; and Ken Lark (Kate) of Brighton, Victoria Australia. Eight well-loved and loving grandchildren, who provided much pride and joy to their grandparents are: Elizabeth Weichel, Emily Weichel, Garrett Lark, Alex Lark, Lisea Lark, Ashley Lark, Brady Lark, and Milly Lark. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her parents, Miriam was pre-deceased by her siblings: Eunice Ashley Rogers, Samuel Ray, Jacob, Benjamin, Ellison, Joseph, Robert, Dendy, and Dorothy Ashley Smith.
Funeral services, conducted by Dr. Jack Couch and assisted by Dr. Austin Carty, will be Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, SC at 11: 00 a.m., followed by visitation. A graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC will be at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church for their youth group or a charity of your choice.
