Minnie Siegel, 105, died on July 13, 2019 in Dallas. Minnie was born May 8, 1914 in Gatesville, Texas to Annie and W. H. Novit. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1931 and attended Draghn's Business College in Dallas. She married Nathan Siegel in 1938. They bought Novit's Department Store from her parents and operated it for 25 years. Minnie enjoyed working in the store, as well as participating in many civic organizations. While in Dublin they were members of Congregation Ahavath Sholom in Fort Worth, driving 75 miles every Sunday to provide their three children with a Jewish education. Upon retiring and moving to Dallas, she joined Congregation Shearith Israel and volunteered in the gift shop for 25 years. After Nathan died, Minnie moved to Town Village North and later moved to Signature Pointe on the Lake and finally Avendelle Group Home. Minnie was preceded in death by Nathan, her husband of 60 years and her son, Louis J. Siegel. Minnie is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Jan and Charles B. Hart and Pam and Joe Joffre Jr., as well as five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and her sister, Mildred Wiles. Minnie will always be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, love of friends and family and love of life. Thanks goes to Ardent Hospice, with special thanks to NKechi and Veronica Chukwu and all of the wonderful care givers over the past 10 years. Graveside services will be at Shearith Israel Cemetery, 4634 Dolphin Road on July 16th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
