Funeral Services for Mrs. Minnie Holloway Bishop, 92, who entered into heavenly rest May 24, 2021 will be conducted Friday at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with Rev. Brian Henderson and Dr. Kenneth Klingler officiating. The interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The wearing of masks is encouraged by the family but optional.
Mrs. Bishop was a native of Metter, GA having made Jackson, SC her home for the past 68 years. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, a member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class and served on the Food Committee; and a past member of the Sandy Acres Garden Club. Mrs. Bishop graduated from Georgia State College, after working 11 years at Savannah River Plant, she taught 2nd grade at Jackson & Redcliffe Elementary for 30 years. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, decorating her home for Christmas, especially the front door contest but most of all she loved cooking for and spending time with her family and close friends.
Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her parents Arley Vinson and Cassie Lanier Holloway; husband, Homer E. Bishop, brother, Lonnie A. Holloway, sister, Eula Mae H. Taylor.
Survivors include two sons, Donald K. (Sandy) Bishop, Prosperity, SC, Alan W. (Nancy) Bishop, Aiken, SC; one grandchild, Kristin B. (Steve) Bayuk, Newberry SC; two great-grandchildren, Anna and Luke Bayuk; and sister Pauline H. Olliff, Metter, GA.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Dorcus Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Melvin Weathersby, Ricky Tarlton, Gurney Wiggins, Marion Brinkley, Jr., Robert Crumbly and Jess Huff.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at White Oak Manor, Newberry, SC where Mrs. Bishop has been since her stroke in November 2019.
