Milton Matthew Bilik Jr., 79, entered into rest peacefully with family by his side on February 10, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born on May 26, 1942 to the late Milton Bilik Sr. and Eleanor (Amundsen) Bilik, he was raised in Norwalk, CT, and spent his younger years playing ice hockey, enjoying the outdoors, and landscaping. Passionate about boating and clamming, he was an active member of the Norwalk Boat Club. At a young age he began working for the City of Norwalk as a laborer, and prided himself on his work ethic, allowing him to work his way up to become Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, serving the city for over 40 years.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Colette Bilik, and a loving father to his daughter Lisa Shanahan. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived and dearly missed by his son-in-law Kevin Shanahan, granddaughters Brenna Shanahan, Lindsay Shanahan, and Sidney Shanahan, his brother-in-law Charles Luciano, sister-in-laws Madeline Opper, Theresa Perkins, and her husband Richard, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-laws David Opper and Jack Karbowicz and sister-in-laws Irma Luciano and Sandralee Shea-Luciano.
He loved spending his time attending fairs and festivals, gambling at the casino, and dining out to enjoy a large bowl of spaghetti and clams. He was well-liked, hardworking, easy going, and will be greatly missed by so many friends and family.
Milton's family would like to express their deep gratitude to DaVita Dialysis and VNA of Guilford for their wonderful care as well as his neighbors for their many acts of kindness and support during his illness.
