Mr. Albert Miller Milford, age 96, formerly of Thomson, GA, passed away January 27, 2022, at his assisted living residence in Rome, GA.
Mr. Milford was born in Columbia County, GA, on April 9, 1925, second son of the late John Boyce and Florence Miller Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: John Boyce (JB) Milford, Jr., Evelyn Milford Cason, Melvin Milford, Bruce Milford, William (Billy) Milford, and Robert Milford.
Mr. Milford was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. Following his service as signalman on the LCI27, he married Cornelia Jane Linnenkohl on September 1, 1946. After moving to Thomson, he was employed by Georgia Railroad until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Milford was a long time active member of First Baptist Church, Thomson, where he served as deacon and sang in the choir. He was a member of the Thomson Lions Club for many years and served as state secretary.
Mr, Milford was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, the former Cornelia Linnenkohl. Survivors include their children Dr. Richard Milford and his wife Nancy, Athens; Mrs. Beverly Milford Harris and husband Bob, Rome; Mr. David Milford and wife Karen, Carrollton; special niece Lucianne Linnenkohl, Dearing; like-a-daughter Wynelle Ruehle, Thomson; grandchildren Brooke Harris Caesar and husband Robbie, Cumming; Brian Harris, Rome; Melissa Manders Dukes and husband Albert, Greenwood, SC; and great-grandchildren Mason and Harper Caesar, Cumming.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Renaissance Marquis Assisted Living, Rome, for their extraordinary support and encouragement. Also special thanks is extended to Heyman Hospice for their gentle, loving care.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Thomson, GA, at a later date. Curtis Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
