Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park
Michelle Kester Pittillo, born August 2, 1971, in Shelby, NC, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on September 22, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC, at the age of 53.
Michelle was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, John and Sedahlia Kester of Shelby, NC, and Whit and Kathleen Williams of Chesapeake, VA.
She is survived by her loving daughter Bethany Diegelman Self, granddaughter Eisley Kester Self, grandson Jake Lucas Self, her devoted parents Jim and Becky Kester, her sister Kristen Kester, her brother Adam Kester and his partner Javier Santana, and her life partner Jeff Meeks.
A dedicated and compassionate registered nurse, Michelle worked for over 10 years in dialysis care, bringing comfort and support to her patients. She was a proud graduate of Shelby High School, Class of 1989, and later earned her LPN from the Foothills Nursing Consortium and her Associate degree in Nursing from Gardner Webb University.
Michelle was known for her vibrant personality and diverse interests. She was an excellent cook who loved sharing meals with family and friends, an avid reader, and loved playing games on her computer. She was also a loving dog mom and enjoyed embroidering beautiful creations for her family.
A gathering of friends and loved ones will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 2-4 p.m.
