Michelle Lea Hickey, age 59, passed away peacefully at her residence in Minnetonka, MN, on November 23rd, 2025.
Michelle was born on November 15th, 1966, in Lompoc California, a daughter to Alice Leone Halvorson and the late John Joseph Hickey Jr.
Michelle was raised in Starbuck, Minnesota where she graduated high school in 1984. After graduation, she attended the College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph, Minnesota and received a degree as a registered nurse, specializing in critical care. Throughout her career, she worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Fairview University in Minneapolis, and North Memorial in Robbinsdale. Michelle loved being a nurse and taking care of her patients.
Michelle's passion for nursing came second only to raising her three children. Recently, she earned the title of grandma, "nana", and she couldn't be prouder.
After her nursing career, Michelle lived in Fergus Falls, Minnesota where she met some wonderful people, returning to Minnetonka, Minnesota in 2022 making her home at Avidor Apartments where she thrived and made many special friends.
Michelle enjoyed going to church, concerts and plays, Benihana's on her birthday, outings with friends to restaurants and movies, and the various clubs and activities at Avidor that really made her personality shine. Her family jokes that she knew the schedule of her favorite TV shows better than the published TV guide.
Michelle is survived by her mother, Alice Halvorson, three children, Tyler Underwood (Shelby), Allison Owen (Jack), Bryce Underwood; one grandchild, Charlotte "Charlie" Underwood; four sisters, Chris Verling, Dawn Hamblin, Jackie Kleppe (Mark), Kimberly Perkuhn (Brian), and two brothers, Robert Hickey, Randy Halvorson (Erin); she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends that were very special to her who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
Fairview Church, 1175 CR-19, Mound, MN 55364.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 -1:00 prior to the service.
Light lunch to follow the service with fellowship and "open mic" to share stories.
